![]() ![]() There's no trim control, so even with the best designing in the world you'll end up either a bit nose heavy or tail heavy and have to be making a lot of stick inputs. There's no instrumented navigation ranges like beacons or ILS, but then there are also no gauges in the planes either. You can fly around a bit and practice landings, and even do some air-to-air and air-to-ground, but there's no real depth to it. There's just not a lot to do in the game once you've built an aircraft. And unless you have an analog slider control for the VTOL you can't even rotate, for example, the nacelles on the V-22 Ospreys to the proper position. VTOL aircraft like the V-22 Ospreys folks have built functionally work, but are insanely difficult to fly. In fact some are actually non-flying items some even come on their own stand. However, often these fancy aircraft aren't tweaked for good flying. It reminds me of all the incredible stuff people have designed in Besiege. Which is nice if you are into that sort of thing. A lot of the downloadable craft are incredibly detailed and if you download and play with them in the builder, you find they often have an amazing bunch of kludges to do the visual tweaks. I've unlocked my hidden Kelly Johnson, look for a U-2 soon! This is, well, Simple and that's a good thing. I'm a long time X-Planes user who loved to build, but finally got worn out with amount of work it took just to make a flyable plane. It's been very stable and bug free, runs great. It's a hell of a lot of value for under $10 USD. And, very nicely, that's done from within the game in a simple system that loads the developer's web page and let's you search for something or just see what's popular. This was apparently a non-Steam game for quite a while, they aren't kidding about those 100,000 planes you can download. Nothing very sophisticated, but it gives you a reason to mount those weapons. Anything from this:īut wait, there's more! There's also air racing, air to air combat and air to ground combat as well, all against the AI. That "snapping parts together" is an oversimplification, there's more depth to the building, although you really can just throw a plane together in a minute if you want to. If you're not in the mood for building, over 100,000 airplanes are available to download for free.Īnd, perhaps surprisingly, it's really a lot of fun for the price. At any time, you can strap yourself into the cockpit and see how it flies with realistic physics. Build airplanes by snapping parts together, designing wing sections, and attaching engines. ![]()
